Painted in little bits of time over the many months that my mother-in-law was battling Covid. At first there were only a few birds but as time wore on they became more numerous and came to represent a life force- dark and beautiful against the colorful backdrop. Unfortunately my MIL eventually died. Her spirit moved on, just as these birds will, passing through the landscape.
